In 2014, the Kelley Technology Consulting Workshop (TCW) was created to help students understand the field of technology consulting. The workshop prepares participants to find and secure internships and full-time jobs in technology consulting as well as corporate positions that require creative problem solutions with the use of technology. Courses offer current content covering digital technology and consulting skills. Students will grow through challenging cases working with other high-achieving students in simulated consulting engagements. Historically, TCW members have had great opportunities for career development.
The TCW is primarily composed of two courses:
Introduction to Technology Consulting (S375) – Fall, Junior Year: This course introduces current topics in technology such as cloud computing, big data and analytics, and agile development, aiming to familiarize students with a diverse portfolio of technology solutions that can be applied to many challenging business problems. The course also covers case analysis and presentation skills, in addition to networking opportunities with company representatives and mock interviews.
Technology Consulting: Essentials for Success (S475) – Fall, Senior Year: The objective of this course is to prepare students for careers in IT consulting and to hit the ground running as they emerge from Kelley. The process of blending business consulting with technology for an external client is a challenging and rewarding profession. The course will present the inner workings of the IT consulting industry and students will have opportunities to simulate real engagements and to acquire the knowledge that will lead to better career management in the field. Further exposure to project management (delivery) and selling of technology consulting solutions is provided.
Additionally, there are other extra-curricular activates for student development that students are expected to participate in.
